Self Reporting of Travel As the global COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak rapidly evolves and expands, Somerset Academy Chapel Trail is continuing to follow the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health on the most effective prevention measures.

If you have recently traveled or have plans to visit any Level 1. Level 2, or Level 3 countries in the foreseeable future, you are requested to advise your child's teacher immediately via email. Please make sure to include the dates and location(s) of travel.

Information and Technology Access Survey Top U.S. Public Health officials advised that Americans should prepare for the spread of the corona virus (COVID-19) in communities across the country. In addition to the informative email we sent earlier regarding the Coronavirus, we are also preparing for the possibility that officials could order school closures at some point and if this happens, we plan to ensure that students continue their schooling from home if the need arises. This is a precautionary measure only. There is no active coronavirus threat in Florida.

FSA Saturday Tutoring Academy Our Elementary Saturday Tutoring Academy will begin February 1st for 3rd graders, and on March 7th for 4th and 5th graders. Online payments will be available on Monday, January 20th. Please click for more details.
Silent Dismissal

Silent Dismissal We are thrilled to announce that on Tuesday, February 11th, we will start Silent Dismissal at South Campus for AFTERNOON carpool. All students (PreK-3) received an individual car tag which must be displayed to pick up your child. It is not necessary to download the app as the features are not active at this time. We look forward to our first Silent Dismissal!
Reading Club for 4th and 5th graders

Reading Club for 4th and 5th graders Spend time with us after school to discuss novels read. Students will be reading the novels independently and should be ready for discussion during our bi- weekly meetings. You may find the novels at a local library or bookstore. Book discussion meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:15. See dates below.

FSA /EOC Saturday Review Sessions Resume April 4th!

FSA /EOC Saturday  Review  Sessions Resume April 4th! M/H Saturday School will resume this week. We will be administering a final exam at the end of the quarter. that is very similar to the FSA/EOC exams. These classes will not only help prepare students to be successful on the assessment, their scores will also help determine their placement next year. In addition, AP and AICE classes will continue to prepare students for the assessment requirements for both.

All M/H students must wear their Somerset’s Student ID card on a lanyard DAILY (for more information regarding Student ID cards, please make reference to the IDENTIFICATION CARD section in the Handbook). Replacement IDs can be purchased in the Activities Office for $5 (Cash Only). Students not wearing their IDs will receive infractions.

Congrats to the Somerset Athletic Department! The Sun Sentinel named Coach Joe Blasucci as the Coach of the Year! Sean Concepción was named Wrestler of the Year! Jaileen De Freitas was named to the All County Girls Soccer First Team and Nathan Montaque was named to the All-County Boys Basketball Second Team. Plus, 7 wrestlers were chosen for the All-County first team and 3 wrestlers to the second team. Way to go, Panthers!!

Art Students' Work Selected for Youth Art Month! Congratulations to Karina Santiesteban and Gabriela Neves. Their artwork was accepted into Broward County Public Schools' Youth Art Month exhibitions highlighting the talents of K-12 art students in Broward County. Their artwork will be on display from March 2nd - 19th at the K.C. Wright Administration Building.

The reception is March 13, 2020 at 5:30 at the K.C. Wright Administration Building.
Varsity Pantherettes: National Champs!

Varsity Pantherettes:  National Champs! Congrats to the Varsity Pantherettes, Ms. Swogger and Ms. Marrero for earning the National Grand Champion Award at the Contest of Champions in Orlando! They earned the highest overall score of the competition with a perfect 300 out of 300 points (out of 800 routines!!)!! They earned 1st Place in Lyrical, Open Large and Contemporary. They earned 2nd Place in Hip Hop and Jazz. They also had the highest overall score in lyrical/contemporary and received a Choreography Award for their Hip Hop routine. Way to go, Pantherettes!!
